Abstrak

This study investigated the link between government incentive policies and enterprise development in Nigeria. This was achieved through a review of the extant theoretical and empirical literature together with hypotheses testing. The ex-post facto research design was adopted in the study with twelve (12) observations, which covers the period of 2010-2021. The data were analysed descriptively with mean and standard deviation while the stated null hypotheses were statistically tested with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression technique at 5% level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that while financial incentives significantly promote enterprise development, fiscal incentives and export promotion incentives had insignificant effect on enterprise development in Nigeria. However, when the variables were integrated, a significant relationship was established between government incentive policies and enterprise development in Nigeria. In view of the findings and the conclusion drawn from, it is recommended that the Federal Government of Nigeria should continue in her effort to boost enterprise development and all the weak institutions hindering the effective implementation of the policies should be strengthened.
