Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the main factors influencing the well-being of the population of the Khorezm region and to analyze their interrelationships. For the period 2015–2024, 11 indicators specific to the region (literacy, per capita income, unemployment, GDP growth, investment, poverty, Gini coefficient, life expectancy, number of doctors, child mortality, and higher education) were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). PCA was applied to simplify multidimensional data and eliminate multicollinearity issues. The results showed that the first principal component (PC1, 67.38% variance) reflected economic and social development (income, investment, education), while the second component (PC2, 14.86%) was related to poverty and GDP growth. During 2015–2024, a significant improvement was observed in PC1, confirming economic development and poverty reduction. However, PC2 indicated that poverty remained high in some years and was negatively associated with health indicators. The study provides an empirical basis for evaluating the effectiveness of economic reforms and strategic planning in the Khorezm region, and emphasizes the need to improve health and social equity.
