Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic opportunities of tourism resources of nature and agriculture of Uzbekistan, as well as the relatively newly emerging area of wine tourism. Uzbekistan has long traditions of viticulture and tourism is based on nature-rich areas, but has not been embedded into a conventional modernized tourism market system. This lack of information also restricts the country from taking advantage of high-value tourism segments as much as it could. Based on statistical indicators of wineries, vineyards, and regional tourism infrastructures through analytical, empirical, and economic-statistical methods within Samarkand, Fergana, and Kashkadarya, using comparative analysis and field observations the research evaluates a geographical expanse of regional tourism with appropriate statistical support. The results with eno-tourism penitential, expanding competencies in winery production, and rising consumer interest in vineyard contingent hospitality suggest wine tourism as a service towards agriculture can raise local branding and income. Nonetheless, issues remain such as lack of infrastructure, promotion and professional preparation. The findings suggest that natural and wine tourism resources can become important drivers of economic development if supported by effective planning, cluster development, digital marketing, and public–private partnerships. Implications: This study indicates that sustainable management and modernization with a high level of community participation are fundamental to make Uzbekistan an attractive wine tourism destination across Central Asia.
