Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effects of digitalization on tourism services, western countries like Finland have benefited a lot from these strategies. The purpose of this study is to understand Finlands digital strategies and adapting them for Uzbekistan. Although a large number of countries have adopted digital solutions, Uzbekistan lacks knowledge in this area, and implementing digital tourism tools might be a challenge. To fill this gap, the present research specifically aims to study the successful digital initiatives from Finland, such as the development of high-end digital marketing, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures and the application of artificial intelligence (AI)-informed tourism management. Based on a comparative analysis methodology, this study used data from the Finnish digital competitiveness index, internet penetration rates, and tourism statistics from 2017–2023. The results show how much Finnish digital strategies enhanced inbound and domestic tourism, especially in the stages after the pandemic. The research further emphasises on the use of digital backbone as an enabler for enhancing tourism service delivery and transparency operations through an integrated approach. The findings indicate potential areas where Uzbekistan can implement similar digitalization strategies which may include integrated booking systems, virtual tours, and AI-powered analytics. The findings of this study are useful for policymakers and tourism stakeholders in Uzbekistan in terms of the mindful digital investments aimed at increasing the global competiveness of tourism in Uzbekistan.
