Abstract

The work environment which consists of physical and non-physical dimensions that are attached to employees cannot be separated to achieve the goals of a company. At the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency there is a work environment that is not yet optimal, there are several workspaces that are too narrow which creates a feeling of discomfort for employees, the large number of files piled up that are not arranged so that it is difficult for employees to find files again and seem old, and several electronic devices which are not functioning normally, such as fans, air conditioners (AC) and printers that are inadequate, preventing employees from carrying out their work. Based on this, this study aims to find out how the performance of employees of the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency and determine the effect of the work environment on the performance of employees of the Office of the Ministry of Religion of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quantitative descriptive type. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires, observation and documentation. The population in this study amounted to 72 people and the data source was taken through random sampling using the solvency formula, totaling 61 people. After the data was collected, it was analyzed using statistical calculation techniques consisting of a normality test and a simple linear regression test. The results of this study are that the work environment for the office of the ministry of religion in Hulu Sungai Tengah district is classified as good because seen from the physical work environment, most of it is included in the good category and the availability of workplace buildings, work equipment, rest areas and places of worship. As for the non-physical work environment, good communication is established between employees so as to minimize the occurrence of miscommunication between employees. Based on the results of the T test, there are sig (2-tailed) 0.000 <0.05 where at the 5% test level it proves that the work environment affects employee performance at the office of the ministry of religion in Hulu Sungai Tengah district significantly, which means that the hypothesis in this study is accepted, and based the results of the R-square test have a percentage of 0.709 or 70.9% influence. So based on the results of the research it can be suggested for employees of the Ministry of Religion Office of Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency to be able to maintain a comfortable work environment that has been established and can add facilities or infrastructure that are lacking to avoid delays in completing work.
