Abstract

This article examines the process of transitioning to digital accounting as a key component of modern organizational management and economic digitalization. Digital accounting represents a systematic shift from traditional paper-based and partially automated accounting practices to fully integrated, technology-driven systems that utilize cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and specialized accounting software. Abstract: This research presents the experiences of a subset of companies, emphasizing economic, organizational, and technological contexts that affect the actual deployment of digital accounting systems by organizations within the circle of influences of digital innovations in public and private sectors. Insights into the benefits of going digital include having more accurate financial data, real-time reporting, increased transparency, cost savings, and easier decision-making. Simultaneously, it also discusses issues that come along which include cyber security threats, non-existence of digital skills in accountants, change resistance in organizations and adaptation to regulations. By means of comparative and analytical research, experiences with digital accounting implementation in Jordan and the Arab world as well as the world are reviewed. Results show that digital accounting provides better control and compliance over financial records and contributes to sustainable economic development through greater efficiency and accountability. It can be observed that the transition to digital accounting needs to be gradual, well-controlled, and skills-based in order for it to be effective.
