Abstract
This research aims to determine the impact of workplace bullying on organizational commitment through the mediating role of emotional burnout among employees. The relationship was tested on a sample of nursing and health staff at Al-Kafeel Specialized Hospital in Karbala Governorate. For the purpose of analyzing and statistically processing the data, the research adopted a suitable set of descriptive statistical measures (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, relative importance), Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, structural equation modeling to measure impact relationships, and path analysis. These methods were used through the statistical programs (SPSS V.25; Amos V.23). The importance of the research stems from the scarcity of research that has attempted to identify and understand the nature of the relationship between the three research variables (bullying in the workplace, emotional exhaustion, and organizational affiliation), as well as the research's attempt to address a real problem that directly affects the Iraqi health sector. The research concluded that the prevalence of bullying behaviors among medical and health staff at Al-Kafeel Hospital will lead to an increase in cases of anxiety, depression, exhaustion, and resentment among the working individuals, and as a result, reduce their sense of belonging to the organization. The research recommends reducing bullying behaviors among employees because of their impact on employee emotional exhaustion and consequently achieving higher organizational loyalty.
