Abstrak
Given the prevalence and impact of diseases on society induced by risky sexual behaviour, the study examines risky sexual behaviour among youths in Nigeria: forms, factors responsible, implications and the way forward. The paper adopted four research questions and objectives. The secondary sources of data were used and the thematic content analysis was used for the analysis of secondary data. It gave an appraisal of various concepts that were related to the study. Problem-Behaviour theory of Rotter’s was adopted. The paper established that the forms of risk sexual behaviour among youths are having multiple sex partners, prostitution, having unprotected sex, etc. The study further identified factors that enhance risky sexuality behaviours in Nigeria. On implications of risky sexual behaviour it was identified to be high rate of sexually transmitted infections (HIV/AIDS), unwanted pregnancy, and unsafe abortion amongst youths in Nigeria. The paper concludes and recommended that youths should adopts the practice of using condoms and safe sex adherence as this would limit the crisis of risky sexual behaviour and diseases, and as well would reduce the rate of unwanted pregnancies, abortion and infectious diseases in Nigeria.
