Ergonomics plays an important part in every aspect of life. In dealing with ergonomics, however, there is a lot of conception as to exactly what it involves. A lot of people are wrongly of the view that it is concerned with only physical things. This article has first tried to debunk that impression before going into the issues that concern the classroom teacher in secondary school of Rivers State. The study examined the age and number of students taught by the teachers. It also looked at the qualifications possessed by the teachers; the appropriateness of these qualifications and their suitability to the subjects and levels the teachers teach. The study showed that in all of the issues researched, there was no conformity with the provision of existing laws, and so it is safe to conclude that there was no ergonomic appropriateness on these issues. This was a descriptive survey which used questionnaire as the main instrument for collecting data from 3494 private and public secondary school teachers in Rivers State. It was guided by 6 research questions. The results were analysed using tables, charts and percentages.
