Abstract
The Russian language possesses a diverse system of regional dialects formed throughout historical development. Despite the strong influence of globalization, mass media, and the spread of standardized language norms, regional speech characteristics remain an important part of linguistic identity. This article examines the presence and transformation of regional dialects in contemporary Russian speech, particularly among young speakers and in digital communication. The research applies sociolinguistic analysis and comparative linguistic methods to identify phonetic, lexical, and stylistic differences between standard Russian and regional dialects. The results demonstrate that although modern communication technologies encourage linguistic unification, dialectal elements continue to function as markers of cultural heritage and regional belonging. The findings highlight the importance of dialect studies for preserving linguistic diversity and for improving language teaching methodologies in modern educational contexts.
