Abstract
Theoretical and methodological consideration of the functional role and prospects for a positive significance of the entrepreneurial institution in ensuring sustainable development of regional economic systems are provided in this paper. In the research, a wide variety of economic theoretical schools and their perception of entrepreneurship are critically examined owing special emphasis to how these views have been reframed in the framework of regional development. An integrated approach will be proposed by the author in order to evaluate how entrepreneurship affects regional sustainable development, and a novel taxonomy of processes through which it occurs developed. Comparison of the results of conceptual analysis and available data would allow to make relevant conclusion on how these are applicable to specific regions in Uzbekistan.
