Abstract

This article discusses the development of trade relations between China and Uzbekistan in 2010–2024, identifies key trends and structural changes in trade turnover, as well as sectors of bilateral cooperation. Thus, the proposed study is dedicated to analyzing trade turnover growth momentum, export–import composition diversification and strengthening the role of bilateral, regional and global initiatives (such as the Belt and Road Initiative) in deepening economic ties. Priority sectors had been developed with special attention: energy, construction, textiles, agriculture, machinery and high technologies. The paper also examines institutional and infrastructural factors reducing trade barriers (e.g. transport corridors, logistics modernization and investment projects) in more detail. Drawing on statistical data and comparative analysis, the paper identifies the key factors of trade growth, existing problems and prospects of further deepening economic partnership between the two countries. The results show that China gained the status of one of the key trade partners for Uzbekistan, and also indicate profound changes as Uzbekistan becomes a central hub in Central Asia.
