Abstract

This systematic review aimed to determine the impact of hypoxia/hypoxic training in its various forms (altitude training, training mask, breath control) on the physiological, physical, skill, and performance record variables of athletes across different sports. To achieve this objective, the descriptive approach within the systematic review methodology was employed, where searching and categorization were conducted according to specific inclusion and exclusion criteria for studies published between the years (2010–2023). The screening process resulted in the adoption of (10) Arab experimental studies. The results of the analysis revealed a consensus among previous studies that hypoxic training strategies stimulate positive physiological adaptations and effectively contribute to the development of physical skills and abilities, in addition to improving athletes' performance records. The review recommends integrating these exercises into athletes' training programs, taking into account individual differences and rigorous load periodization.
