Abstract
This article analyzes the main factors in studying the processes of political modernization in the development of the state and society. Using the example of local governance, the study examines the renewal of political institutions, improvement of governance efficiency, enhancement of citizens’ political participation, and the implementation of democratic principles. The role and significance of local authorities in the process of political modernization are also highlighted.
