The Significance of Proverbs and Sayings in Enhancing Pragmatic Competence

This study explores the role of proverbs and sayings in enhancing pragmatic competence among English language learners. Pragmatic competence, the ability to use language effectively in context, is crucial for achieving communicative proficiency. Proverbs and sayings, with their rich cultural and contextual implications, provide an effective means of teaching pragmatics. This paper examines the integration of these linguistic elements into language instruction and their impact on learners' pragmatic skills.
