Abstract

This study aims to understand the impact of innovative work behavior on group cohesion through the mediating role of positive psychological capital. Innovative work behavior was chosen as the first explanatory variable with its dimensions in order to investigate the nature of the relationship between the variables (idea generation, idea promotion, and idea implementation), and group cohesion as the second explanatory variable with its dimensions (task cohesion, social cohesion, and individual attraction to the group). The responding variable was favorable psychological capital with its dimensions (self-efficacy [confidence], self-efficacy, optimism, hope, and resilience). In order to accomplish the opinions of a sample of faculty members from the College of Administration and Economics at Wasit University were surveyed. The measurement tool was a questionnaire that was administered to a sample of 93 faculty members (professors, associate professors, lecturers, and assistant lecturers).  Several hypotheses served as the foundation for the study, the most important of which was that there is a statistically significant and meaningful impact of innovative work behavior on group cohesion through the mediating role of positive psychological capital. With the use of suitable statistical tools, such as SPSS version 28 and AMOS 26, data were examined and hypotheses were evaluated. The research came to a number of results, including that innovative work behavior has a statistically significant and positive effect on group cohesion through the mediating role of positive psychological capital.
