Abstract

The expansion of regional tourism has increased the importance of effective management in hotel service operations. This study examines the efficiency of selected hotels in Samarkand by applying Data Envelopment Analysis alongside linear programming techniques to assess resource utilization and cost performance. Labor and capital were considered as primary inputs, while hotel revenue served as the output indicator. The findings demonstrate notable differences in efficiency among the analyzed hotels. While some establishments achieved optimal technical performance, others experienced considerable inefficiencies arising from suboptimal resource allocation and operational practices. The results indicate that substantial cost reductions are feasible without compromising service output through improved managerial decision-making.
The analysis further emphasizes the role of strategic management in sustaining hotel performance during periods of operational constraints, including renovation activities. These outcomes provide evidence-based guidance for enhancing productivity and financial stability within regional hospitality markets.
This research enriches efficiency measurement literature by presenting an empirical application of DEA in a developing tourism destination using real operational data.
