Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the Big Five personality traits (openness, conscientiousness-extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism) and job performance at the Housing Loan Institution in the Iraqi Fund – Najaf. A quantitative, descriptive, correlational research design was utilized—the study E for the 267 Clients Drawn into the Sample. There were 267 collected responses, and all questionnaires returned had complete answers (100%). Data were analyzed to generate descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and model fit statistics using SmartPLS and the PLs-SEM software. Construct and reliability were validated through confirmatory factor analysis, and statistical analyses included path analysis and inference.
The interaction between these traits and job performance was strongly positive. More specifically, high conscientiousness was the most important, while moderate levels of agreeableness and openness to experience were most active in this effect. In other words, these findings implied that neuroticism could lead to poor job performance. The study emphasizes the importance of personality dimensions in human resource management. It suggests that employee recruitment and training, as tools for improving organizational climate and job performance, require personality assessment tools.
