Abstract
Purpose: This paper examined the impact of foreign aid on education development in Nigeria.
Method: The paper is a review study. The paper depends on secondary data that were collected from government documents, print resources and online publications. Content analysis was used to narrow the literature to the theme of the study.
Findings: The paper concluded that foreign aid has contributed to the development of education in Nigeria in the areas of provision of financial support, instructional resources, facilities development, capacity building, data collection and provision of technical assistance.
Recommendations: The Nigerian government should continue to promote healthy international diplomacy and relationships with different countries to attract more foreign aid to the country and the educational sector. The government should establish a commission to be in charge of all aids coming into education to aid effective management and accountability.
