Abstract
In the world educational lexicography, there are various types of means for the development of speech, the analyzes of which have shown that the majority of dictionaries created for preschool children are encyclopedic in nature, that is, they provide encyclopedic knowledge. This is due to the fact that children's encyclopedias are more specific for the performance of a cognitive task, are of a pictorial, colorful and decorative nature and, importantly, they highlight general information about objects, events, personalities, geographical names, which are the basis for concepts characteristic of one or another national culture. Encyclopedic dictionaries are usually arranged alphabetically, and they provide information not about words, but about objects, historical events, natural and social phenomena, persons, geographical names, which are the basis for the concepts understood from this word. The dictionary article is intended for a wide audience of readers who understand the language in which the dictionary is written.
