Abstract

Modernist literature and its relation to the work of Edgar Allan Poe.
In the criticism of modern literature, modernist aesthetics of the 20th century and the work of Edgar Allan Poe occupy an important place. To this day, interest in the writer’s work does not subside. Many researchers consider the influence of Poe's work on American and European literature. Faced with the aesthetics of romanticism, Edgar Allan Poe's artistic innovation makes it clear that his artistic creation does not get along with the aesthetics of romanticism. Despite his American roots, his work is so diverse that one can feel the characteristic features of European literature and a vision of the future. His work represents a wave of modernist culture, which was invaded by modernist writing and which exists and lives to this day.
