Abstract

The use of questionnaires aimed at identifying psycho-emotional disorders at a dental appointment can alarm or even offend the patient. After all, prejudiced attitudes towards people with mental illnesses, the so-called stigma, are widely known. Such people are treated with prejudice and a desire to avoid communicating with them. Many dentists do not want to treat patients with mental illness, citing the discrepancy between time and labor costs and the income received from the treatment provided. Also, many dentists are reluctant to accept patients with mental disorders due to a lack of knowledge on this problem and because of the unpleasant feeling of inadequacy of the patients.
