Abstract

This article presents the results of studies on the formation of the boll weight trait in cotton hybrids developed through ecological-geographical and genetically distant hybridization. It was found that for increasing the weight of a single cotton boll, hybrid combinations such as F14BS-4Pl-10 × S-2609, F15BS-8Pl-14 × S-6524, F14BS-4Pl-12 × S-5621, F15BS-4Pl-12 × S-5621, and F13BS3S1-47-8-1-17 × S-6524 can serve as valuable initial material in breeding programs aiming to improve this economically important trait.
