Abstract

The oil and gas sector depends much on water adsorption to guarantee process efficiency, equipment protection, and industry standards compliance. A thorough overview of water adsorption materials and their use methods in natural gas dehydration, pipeline drying, refining operations, and offshore projects is given in this work. Examined in terms of their adsorption methods, efficiency, and regeneration processes are key adsorption materials: silica gel, zeolites, activated alumina, and advanced hybrid materials.
The paper emphasizes how well adsorption-based dehydration systems stop process inefficiencies, corrosion, and hydrate generation. Furthermore covered are issues like high regeneration energy needs, material deterioration, and performance constraints under harsh environments. Emerging technologies provide interesting ways to improve adsorption efficiency and sustainability: hybrid composite adsorbents and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs).
Improving adsorption capacity, lowering running costs, and creating environmentally suitable substitutes to increase the long-term performance of dehydration systems should be the main priorities of further studies. The oil and gas sector can reach higher dependability, energy economy, and sustainability in water management by including creative materials and improving adsorption techniques.
