Abstract
This study evaluates the effectiveness of School Management Committees (SMCs) in enhancing educational quality in primary schools within the Bambili locality. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of SMC in improving the quality of education in primary schools in Bambili. The main null and alternative hypothesis were to proof if there is a significant relationship between the involvement of school management committees and the improvement of educational quality in primary schools in Bambili and if there is no significant relationship between the involvement of school management committees and the improvement of educational quality in primary schools in Bambili respectively. A mixed-method research design was adopted. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and an interview guide. Data were administered to 80 respondents, including: teachers, head teachers, SMC members with key stakeholders to provide deeper insights in to the perceptions and experiences of those involved in school governance. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicated that SMCs play a crucial role in supporting educational quality, although their impact is constrained by limited training, resource shortages and unclear responsibilities. The study recommended capacity-building programs and policy support to strengthen SMC engagement in school improvement efforts.
