The Contentious Function of Elections Cameroon: A Legal Appraisal

Amid growing debates on Elections Cameroon’s independence, non partisanship and professionalism, it has been granted contentious functions. This study examines whether Elections Cameroon is founded on the principles of independence, non-partisanship and professionalism to efficiently resolve preparatory operations disputes. The study employed qualitative methodology and purely doctrinal method which is based on both primary and secondary sources of data. The findings of this study indicate that Elections Cameroon is established by law which can be changed through regular legislative procedure. In addition, the investigations reveal that the selection and appointment procedures for the members of Elections Cameroon are solely determined by the President of the Republic. The research recommends that Elections Cameroon should be established in the Constitution which cannot be changed through regular legislative procedure. Once more, the research recommends that the selection and appointment procedures for members of Elections Cameroon should also include legislative and judicial bodies.
