Patriarchy in Religious Discuss: Counter Narratives from Hinduism, Christianity and Islam

This paper examines the pervasive influence of patriarchy within three major world religions—Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism and the gender considerations that arise from these religious frameworks. Patriarchal structures have historically shaped and continue to influence gender roles and relations within these spiritual traditions. By analyzing sacred texts, religious doctrines, and the role of religious leaders, this study seeks to understand how patriarchy is reinforced and challenged within these faiths, and importantly, the counter-narratives from these religious traditions. This comparative analysis highlights common themes and significant differences, providing a nuanced understanding of the intersection between gender and religion. The paper concludes with implications for future research and recommendations for addressing patriarchal structures within religious communities.
