Abstract

This article analyzes the manifestation of predicativity at the text level on a scientific and theoretical basis. The traditional interpretation of predicativity as occurring only within the sentence is critically re-examined, and its manifestation at the level of the word, word combination, and text is substantiated. The study comparatively analyzes the views on predicativity held by A. M. Peshkovskiy, V. V. Vinogradov, Yu. S. Stepanov, V. B. Kasevich, and I. R. Galperin, with special attention paid to elucidating the expanded concept of predicativity in modern linguistics. Poly-predicativity and supra-predicativity within the text structure are explained as categories, and their semantic-syntactic nature is revealed. Furthermore, the dominant role of modality in the text and its role in shaping predicativity are scientifically explained. The results of the research serve to understand the comprehensive nature of predicativity in text linguistics and the theory of syntax.
