Abstract

This paper explores the impact of language testing programs on the reliability of classroom assessments produced by teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Reliable language tests are crucial for evaluating students' proficiency, guiding instruction, and improving learning outcomes. The study highlights challenges faced by teachers in developing effective tests, including the production of high-quality test items and the need for adequate training in test design and moderation. Key elements for reliable testing include skilled educators, sound educational principles, formative evaluation, and continuous training. Best practices in test design, such as determining appropriate content proportions and adhering to standard formats, are essential for consistent results. Furthermore, the role of globalized test delivery systems and technological tools is examined for their potential to enhance feedback and reduce costs. The study concludes that while advancements have been made, significant improvements are needed in standardizing classroom tests and integrating robust testing policies to ensure validity and reliability.
