Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has transformed educational practices, necessitating innovative approaches to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. In Indonesian language instruction, particularly for procedural texts, conventional methods often lack the interactivity required to motivate students. The Quizizz platform introduces a gamified learning experience that can support this need. While prior studies highlight the general benefits of digital learning, few focus on the targeted use of Quizizz for procedural text learning within the context of Indonesian language curricula. This study aims to examine the implementation and effectiveness of the Quizizz digital platform in teaching procedural texts to eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Manado. Using qualitative methods including interviews, observations, questionnaires, and objective tests, the study found that Quizizz improved student motivation, participation, and understanding, with a class success rate of 79% and most students scoring above 80. Despite the positive outcomes, challenges remain for complex questions, underscoring the need for supplemental instruction. This research uniquely explores the use of gamification through Quizizz in the specific context of procedural text instruction under the 2013 and Merdeka curricula, offering empirical insights into its applicability and effectiveness in Indonesian language education. The study affirms that integrating digital platforms like Quizizz, when coupled with teacher guidance, can enhance learning outcomes. It also highlights the need for adaptive teaching strategies to support diverse learner needs in digital environments.
