Rethinking Assessment: the Role of Formative Assessment in Language Classrooms

In today’s world of teaching, a variety of modern teaching methods and approaches are being applied. This has affected language classrooms more positively and made language learning process more productive process. However, in assessment, many teachers still rely on traditional ways of testing. These forms of testing should be reconsidered replacing with more effective forms of assessment that measure students’ knowledge and progress clearly, provide constructive feedback from teachers, and foster self-reflection and learner autonomy.
