Abstract

This article explores the interaction between language and imagery in poetry from a linguopoetic perspective. Linguopoetics, as an interdisciplinary field combining linguistics and poetics, focuses on how linguistic structures generate aesthetic and emotional meaning in literary texts. The study investigates how lexical choice, syntactic organization, metaphor, and sound patterns function together to create poetic imagery and shape the reader’s interpretation. Using a qualitative analytical approach, the research examines representative poetic texts from modern English and world poetry to illustrate how imagery is not merely decorative but structurally embedded in language. The findings show that poetic imagery emerges through the interaction of semantic, syntactic, and phonetic levels of language, forming a unified artistic system. The article contributes to linguopoetic theory by demonstrating that imagery is a product of linguistic organization rather than an isolated stylistic device.
