Abstract
Psycholinguistics has presented several theories about how humans acquire language, how they produce and receive spoken and written language. These theories have been used in the field of language teaching. Some experts use these theories as the main theory in developing language teaching methods. This is called the psycholinguistic approach. The psycholinguistic approach views learning as an individual cognitive process and then translates it into a social dimension. Based on this approach, some methods based on psycholinguistic theories have been developed, such as the natural method, the general physical response method, and the suggestionopedia method. These methods apply psycholinguistic principles such as how humans acquire their native language (first language acquisition), how they learn a second or third language (second language acquisition), how they receive language (language acquisition), and how they produce language (language production).
