Abstract
This article provides a scientific analysis of the activities of the ambassador, merchant, and educator Mulla Muhammad Ernazarbiy Maqsud o'g'li, who played an important role in the development of diplomatic relations between the Bukhara Emirate and the Russian Empire in the 18th century, as well as the history of the Ernazar Elchi Madrasah, built at his initiative. In the study, existing views on the period of construction of the madrasah, its architectural structure, the educational process, and financial sources are reviewed based on historical sources. In particular, the degree of reliability of the opinion that the madrasah was built on the basis of funds allocated by Empress Catherine II of Russia is compared with the research of researchers, and the existing scientific uncertainties on this issue are indicated. The author, noting that some archival documents have not been sufficiently studied, substantiates the need for further scientific research on the topic. The article is significant for highlighting the continuous development of education and enlightenment in Central Asia during the Khanate period, as well as initiatives aimed at developing trade and economic relations.
