Abstract
Samples of Uzbek folk oral creativity, especially heroic epics, reflect the people’s centuries-old historical memory, social views, and spiritual-psychological world. One such epic, Kholdorkhon, is analyzed in this study in terms of the symbolism (semiotics) of colors and their psychological functions in enhancing the heroes’ emotional states, the development of events, and the artistic expressiveness of the narrative. It is substantiated that colors in the text of the epic are not accidental decorative elements but significant symbols expressing the people’s aesthetic worldview, values, and perception of reality.
