Abstract

In modern education, independent reading skills play a crucial strategic role in students’ academic success and personal development. It transforms the learner from a mere recipient of knowledge into an active subject who independently manages their own learning process. Therefore, independent reading is currently considered one of the main directions of modern education.
Scientific concepts such as metacognition, self-regulated learning, and self-efficacy form the fundamental psychological and pedagogical basis for the effectiveness of independent reading. They significantly enhance the quality of learning by enabling students to understand their thinking processes, plan their education, and develop confidence in their own abilities. For this reason, the development of independent reading skills is regarded as one of the most important factors in improving educational quality and preparing competitive professionals in today’s digital education environment.
