Abstract
The evolution of surgical treatment of postoperative ventral hernias is associated with the widespread introduction of modern alloplastic materials into clinical practice, which significantly improved postoperative results. At the same time, the article provides evolutionary data on the use of various synthetic materials and the results of their application. Modern alloprosthetic materials, in particular polypropylene, are inert, do not cause any reactions, and the percentage of recurrence of abdominal hernias is low. The most rational is supraponeurotic and submuscular fixation of the prosthesis. A comprehensive comprehensive analysis of the results of hernia treatment makes it possible to choose the right method for treating patients.
