Abstract
Microorganisms, often invisible to the naked eye, play a pivotal role in the ecosystems and processes that sustain life on Earth. They are essential not only for the functioning of natural environments but also for advancements in sustainable development, particularly in the domains of human health and disease management. The dynamic interaction between microbes and humans can significantly influence health outcomes, agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability, and the management of diseases. In the context of sustainable development, the role of microbes extends far beyond traditional views that focus on their pathogenic potential. Beneficial microbes, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses, contribute to the development of green technologies, such as bioremediation, waste recycling, and the production of sustainable energy.
