Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the level of awareness, participation and general perception of the role of community nursing in the prevention of chronic diseases among young people. A descriptive cross-sectional study and included )100( participants from different age groups and educational levels. Data were collected using a pre-prepared questionnaire that included four main axes: demographic characteristics, level of awareness of the role of community nursing, participation in awareness activities and general perception of the effectiveness of preventive programs, in addition to the challenges facing this role. The results indicated that most of the participants belong to the age group of 18-25 years, at a rate of 45%, and that most of them hold university degrees, 55%. It also showed that the level of awareness of the concept of community nursing reached 60%, while the percentage of participation in awareness activities reached only )35%. (  )50%) of the participants reported that the role of community nursing is somewhat effective, while) 55%  (described the preventive programs as moderately effective. As for most chronic diseases According to the participants, the most prevalent diseases were diabetes (55%), obesity (45%), and high blood pressure (40%). The most common preventive methods were following a healthy diet (70%) and regular physical activity (65%). The results showed that the most prominent tasks of community nursing mentioned were organizing awareness campaigns (55%) and following up on high-risk cases (50%). Statistical analysis (Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression) showed no statistically significant relationships between the demographic variables of age, gender, educational level, and the level of awareness, participation, or perception of effectiveness at) ( p >0.05 (However, a positive trend was observed indicating an increase in awareness with the rise in the educational level and an increase in participation among males compared to females  The results show that awareness of the role of community nursing among young people is average or limited participation, but the general view of its preventive role is positive, which calls for intensifying awareness efforts and strengthening institutional and financial support for community nursing programs.
