Abstract
The Jagannath cult occupies a unique place in the religious, cultural and social history of India, particularly in Odisha. Centered around the worship of Lord Jagannath at the Sacred Jagannath Temple, the cult represents one of the most inclusive and dynamic religious tradition in south Asia. The term 'Jagannath' literally means Lord of the Universe, signifying Universality, compassion and spiritual integration.
