Abstract

The article presents the results of evaluating the anti-inflammatory efficacy of the new-generation protease inhibitor ulinastatin in the complex treatment of moderate obstetric sepsis. It was found that the exacerbation of sepsis of alimentary, contact-household, and postoperative (including after cesarean section) etiology was manifested by lower abdominal pain and dyspeptic symptoms. Elevated levels of serum aminotransferases, bilirubin, and alpha-amylase were observed, along with increased activity of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNFα). The use of ulinastatin as part of combination pharmacotherapy contributed to the significant relief of clinical manifestations of sepsis, attributed to the anti-cytokine action of the drug. Ulinastatin (a serum protease inhibitor) demonstrated high tolerability and efficacy in patients with obstetric sepsis complicated by diffuse purulent peritonitis.
