RESEARCH ON POETIC DEVICES AND METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES IN LITERARY STUDIES

Objective: This article examines poetic devices as analyzable linguistic and cognitive operations and surveys methodological approaches that allow literary studies to describe them with replicable rigor. The purpose is to integrate close reading with empirically oriented protocols so that figures such as metaphor, metonymy, sound patterning, and syntactic deviation can be compared across authors, periods, and genres. Method: The methodology combines a theory-driven typology of devices with corpus-assisted procedures, annotation guidelines, and reliability checks that reduce interpretive drift. Results: The article also proposes a compact reporting template aligned with IMRAD to improve transparency in device-centered literary research. Novelty: The study’s novelty lies in a unified framework that links device taxonomy to measurable textual cues and to interpretive functions, enabling mixed-method designs in which qualitative interpretation is constrained by quantitative evidence. The expected contribution is a transferable methodological toolkit for graduate-level research and journal publication in literary studies.
