Analytical Thinking and Its Importance in Teaching Literary Texts

This study addresses the topic of analytical thinking and its importance in teaching literary texts, as it is one of the higher-order thinking skills that contributes to developing the process of teaching literature and enhancing learners' abilities to deeply understand literary texts. The research adopted the inductive method by presenting the concept of analytical thinking, analyzing its characteristics and basic skills, and tracing its role in teaching literary texts in light of relevant educational literature. The research aimed to demonstrate the importance of analytical thinking skills, such as analysis, comparison, deduction, and critique, and their role in helping students deconstruct literary texts, understand their intellectual and aesthetic components, and uncover the relationships that connect words, meanings, artistic imagery, and expressive styles. The research also addressed the importance of analytical thinking in teaching literary texts, explaining its impact on developing a deep understanding of the text, enhancing literary taste, cultivating critical awareness, and engaging students in conscious interaction with and analysis of the literary text. The research concluded, through presentation and inductive analysis, with a set of findings that highlighted the importance of analytical thinking in teaching literary texts and its active and clear role in moving students from superficial reception to conscious understanding and deep analysis of the literary text, thereby strengthening their intellectual and critical abilities.
