The integration of digital technologies into freight logistics - including electronic documentation systems, real-time cargo-tracking platforms, automated warehouse management, and blockchain-based customs clearance - has emerged as one of the most consequential levers for reducing transaction costs in international trade. For landlocked economies dependent on overland transit, the efficiency gains from digitalization carry particular strategic weight. Uzbekistan, actively implementing a national digital logistics strategy, presents an important empirical case for evaluating these claims. Digital transformation of logistics systems generates measurable and economically significant reductions in transaction costs, with compounding benefits for trade competitiveness and supply chain reliability. The evidence suggests that Uzbekistan's ongoing digitalisation investments are on the right trajectory, though the pace and coverage of adoption need to accelerate to close the gap with regional and global benchmarks.
