Abstract
This article examines the economic essence of the transport system and its role in ensuring regional development. The transport system is considered as a key component of economic infrastructure that connects production, consumption, labour resources, markets and investment flows. The study highlights that an efficient transport system reduces logistics costs, improves market accessibility, strengthens interregional economic relations and increases the competitiveness of regional enterprises. Special attention is paid to the influence of transport infrastructure on industrial growth, agricultural development, tourism, trade and service sectors. The article also emphasizes the social importance of transport accessibility in reducing territorial disparities and improving the quality of life of the population. The results show that modernization of transport infrastructure, development of logistics services, integration of different modes of transport and implementation of digital technologies are essential conditions for sustainable and balanced regional development.
