Abstract
This scientific article analyzes the technical stages of the processes involved in producing ancient Greek pottery in a comprehensive manner. The study details the sequence of primary practical operations such as preparing raw materials (selecting and mixing clay), shaping the item (using a potter’s wheel or hand methods), surface treatment (casting, polishing, preparing for decoration), drying, and firing. Additionally, it examines the impact of various decorative techniques on the practical outcomes of production. The article also discusses how the technical processes relate to the physical-mechanical properties of the items, their porosity, color stability, and service life. The results contribute to a scientific reassessment of ancient Greek pottery traditions, the interpretation of archaeological finds, and an understanding of the historical development of pottery technologies.
