Abstract

This article examines the transformative role of blockchain technology in reducing corruption and operational costs within international trade and logistics systems. In the context of increasing globalization and the complexity of cross-border transactions, traditional trade mechanisms often suffer from inefficiencies, lack of transparency, excessive paperwork, and vulnerability to fraudulent activities. These challenges not only increase transaction costs but also create favorable conditions for corruption, particularly in customs procedures, contract enforcement, and supply chain management. The study explores how blockchain, as a decentralized and immutable digital ledger, enhances transparency, accountability, and trust among stakeholders involved in international trade. By enabling real-time tracking of goods, secure data sharing, and automated execution of contracts through smart contracts, blockchain significantly reduces the need for intermediaries and minimizes human intervention, which is often a source of corruption risks. The paper also highlights the role of blockchain in improving documentation processes, reducing delays, and ensuring the authenticity of trade-related information. Furthermore, the research analyzes the economic implications of blockchain adoption in logistics systems, emphasizing cost reduction through process optimization, elimination of redundancies, and increased operational efficiency. Case studies and global practices are considered to demonstrate how leading economies and multinational corporations are integrating blockchain solutions into supply chain management and trade finance. The article also addresses existing challenges in implementing blockchain technology, including regulatory barriers, technological limitations, lack of standardization, and the need for digital infrastructure development. Despite these obstacles, the findings suggest that blockchain has strong potential to reshape international trade systems by fostering a more transparent, efficient, and corruption-resistant environment. The paper argues that the widespread adoption of blockchain technology can serve as a strategic tool for governments and businesses to enhance economic integrity, reduce transaction costs, and improve the overall efficiency of global trade and logistics networks.
