Principals of Schools and Mastery of Information and Communication Technology (ICT): Contemporary Tool for Effective School Leadership

Some years back teachers were trained without a single knowledge of technology (computer literate). Coupled with the fact that school leaders are not trained in cameroon only expansion the notion that the absence of technology competence by school principals is rife. The contemporary leadership in our schools from observation lack this very essential competence to run schools effectively. Knowing the computer; its basic variables; mastery of the internet and above all having some degree of knowledge in ICT has become the order of the day in all sectors. This gives room for getting relevant information, self– training using the internet, fast coordination of school matters etc. The methodology is analyzing secondary data. This paper aims at bringing out the importance of ICT and the necessity for our principals to be rich in technology which is contemporary competence in all administrative setting.
