Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the application of artificial intelligence in improving students’ ability in writing. The writing ability is one of the fundamental references in expressing character. The writing process can basically be divided into three major aspects: pre-writing, writing, and post-writing. Students from department of computer science participated in the study when they had English subject in their classes. All of the classes were initially taught posture and hand training, but only three of the six classes moved on to the 10-week AI-based writing program. The author utilized the Aithor software for the 10-week program, which was combined with posture, guiding, and safety education tools. The results emphasize the central idea of supplying equipment that encourages language training for written assignments, particularly for low self-reported ability students, who can benefit from such equipment to improve their writing scores. The results indicated that AI technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) and dialogue systems have been developed and applied to education, creating these learning experiences beyond what a human instructor can achieve. Intelligent tutoring systems are stable, autonomous patterners that bind the machine to the intelligence that can significantly improve human learning capabilities
