This article is dedicated to the analysis of the interpretation of sak-massagets in ancient written sources. The main focus is on political events, the marches of Cyrus II and Darius I against the nomadic tribes, the “Land of Saka” and the incorporation of the Saks into the ancient Persian kingdom
